“Focus On Your Own Foot Steps”

“Don’t measure yourself with someone else’s ruler.” They have their own life, so as you. What they are experiencing or doing in their life is entirely different from you. We don’t need to follow someone’s footsteps in other staircases.
There are undeniable times that you may envy another person’s achievement. We feel the pressure that life isn’t going backward. Therefore we feel the need to rush, to have what others already have. We feel that way sometimes, and that is normal.
……….
We are indeed in the same ocean, but we are not in the same boat—maybe, some of us are sailing with a ship, fast enough without worrying about the little waves. Some of us are sailing with a canoe while struggling on the big waves. We have a different journey. This is why some goals are easy for others to achieve, while others may go through so many hardships multiple times to reach them. Remind yourself that “that’s their life, their timeline. Their ocean, their road,” and you have yours too.
Above all that, it is the fact that each one of us is having progress every day towards our own personal goal. You just have to believe and trust that what you are doing right now is valuable progress for tomorrow.
Your success will come precisely on time—it doesn’t mean, if someone got a car, you have to get one too, instantly. If someone brought a house, it doesn’t mean that you also have to buy a house immediately. If someone gets promoted on their job, it doesn’t mean you should be advanced too. It’s not like that.
If you didn’t get yourself what others have, it doesn’t imply that you are failing or not succeeding. If you didn’t achieve what they achieved, it doesn’t mean that you’re not making enough progress or you’re not being productive. Again, it is not like that. We have to understand that all of us have our own goals and ways to achieve them, and we will attain them in our “own time.” You can have anything you want, a car, a house and get promoted, etc., when it is your time. And your time will surely come.
Until then, keep focusing on your own life. Focus on your own boat and the water you are sailing. Focus on the road you are walking. Focus on making your own steps forward—do not be distracted and feel hopeless when you saw someone who already finished their own race. Do not let the success of others drown your own progress. Every little step you are making every day towards your goals, dreams, and passion is valuable progress.
Do not measure your progress with another person’s progress.
Do not measure your productivity with another person’s productivity.
Do not measure your accomplishments with another person’s achievements.
Do not measure your success with another person’s success.
The future you are dreaming of will depend on what you are doing in your current situation, so you must make the most of it. Sometimes, the pressure and anxiety for our future barricades the natural flow of our goals and dreams. Just be patient, and don’t force anything to happen. Stop worrying too much about your future. It is marvelous to let life flow and go along with it—you are not late for anything. You don’t need to rush, because you are very much on time.
Just Focus on your own footsteps, and continue what you are doing right now, for it will lead you to your success.
“Believe me, my journey has not been a simple journey of progress. There have been many ups and downs, and it is the choices that I made at each of those times that have helped shape what I have achieved.”
- Satya Nadella
